Natural Cures For Prostate Cancer

The are many discussions regarding whether or not using natural cures for prostate cancer have any validity. Many folks have readily advocated the use of natural treatments such as herbal remedies and medicines. However, many doctors and respected members of the scientific community have not jumped on the bandwagon of endorsing or recommending natural cures for prostate cancer.

Additionally, many of these natural treatments don't actually cure cancer but instead act as a buffer to improve the quality of life for individuals that are stricken with cancer. Many of the natural cures or treatments are nothing more then the use of antioxidants, minerals, herbs and vitamins combined to form the basis or foundation of a diet filled with the proper nutritional needs required by cancer patients.

Saw Palmetto is frequently mentioned as a herb known to be regularly used as a natural cure for cancer based on its anabolic composition. In fact, Saw Palmetto is routinely used to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy, which is usually abbreviated as BPH. Saw Palmetto works by prohibiting the composition of growth stimulating dihydrotestosterone and the decreasing of estrogen levels, which results in the eradication of growth stimulating dihydrotestosterone.

Interestingly enough some clinical trials have shown that Saw Palmetto has proven to be more effective at treating and controlling an enlarged prostate better then the prescription drug known as Proscar. For many men this is good news because Saw Palmetto is rather inexpensive when compared to Proscar and doesn't come with the many side effects including erectile dysfunction.

Other popular herbal treatments and remedies for prostate cancer include Pygeum and Cernilton. Pygeum is normally used to treat an enlarged prostate while Cernilton is used as a treatment for prostatitis. Another herb called Bazoton or stinging nettle is sometimes used to treat prostate disorders. There are also many variations of antioxidants that are used in natural remedies for prostate disorders and prostate cancer. They include Lycopene, Selenium and Resveratrol. Because these antioxidants haven't been clinically proven to cure cancer they are usually sold as supplements.

One thing is for sure, the effectiveness of natural cures for prostate cancer has not garnered the respect from the medical profession and in many cases are still frowned upon as a means to treat prostate cancer and disorders. However, many consumers continue their use and actively advocate their abilities to serve as a form of prostate cancer treatment or remedy.

DID YOU KNOW?

Lycopene is a naturally occurring chemical that is found in tomatoes, papaya, guava, and watermelons. It can also be found tomato products such as ketchup or spaghetti sauce. If you are not the type who eats a lot of fruits and vegetables (though you really should be), opting for pizza or pasta may be a good choice, provided that they are generously laced with tomato sauce. Studies have shown that processed tomatoes contain up to 4 times more lycopene that natural ones - one of the rare instances when cooking actually increases nutrition content. To attain lycopene's benefits, most experts recommend that you eat at least two servings of ketchup or tomato sauce per week.
