Prostate Cancer Alternative Treatments

The baby boomer generation is gravitating toward prostate cancer alternative treatments. The consensus is that if the cancer has not spread alternative medicine can easily kill the cancer cells safely without intrusive surgery or chemotherapy. In some cases if the cancer has spread, the traditional orthodox treatments and subsequent side effects can be devastating.

Prostate cancer alternative treatment is the choice for many middle aged men because of the promising scientific research that is being conducted all across the country. In one recent research study conducted by Dr. Dean Ornish, MD, clinical professor of medicine, University of California, the report sited evidence that eating a 10% fat vegan diet combined with moderate exercise, meditation and yoga reduced the levels of PSA .

Level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a protein secreted by prostate tissue. The higher the PSA level, the more likely a person will develop urinary retention. For some individuals diagnosed with high PSA levels, prostate cancer alternative treatments are in even higher demand.

The American Cancer Society estimates that in the United States one in six men will eventually be diagnosed with prostate cancer--that’s one in six men. The Associate Editor of The Journal of Urology gave a warning to men that there may be an over reaction to the method of detecting the prostate problem.

Because of traditional reaction to high levels of PSA, some men may be in jeopardy of receiving high risk treatments that are not warranted.

The primary alternative treatment for prostate cancer is herbal treatment or homeopathy. Alternative Prostate cancer herbal treatments include:

Lycopene is in abundance in cooked tomato products. Lycopene is also found in these fruits

  • Lycopene contains antioxidant properties that aid in reversing the malignant process. Studies published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute reported that men who ate cooked tomato products were less likely to develop prostate cancer.

The research went further to discover that men who consumed 10 or more servings of tomato-based foods a week were 45 percent less likely to develop prostate cancer. Cooked tomato products offered protective benefits. The study found no benefits in raw tomatoes and tomato juice.
